WEST HARRISON RIDING AREA

Located 50km NE from Mission, BC

With the pressure placed upon the Chilliwack riding areas, with its 25,000 ATV’S, as many dirt bikes and the thousands of hikers, bikers and horses, something had to be done to mitigate the conflicts.

The S.W.A.T.T. committee identified a massive riding area with many years, of growth potential. That being the west side of Harrison Lake (WEST HARRISON). Situated 30 minutes North East of Mission, BC, this vast area has the capability of providing varied riding opportunities to the growing number of off road vehicles, (ORV’S) from Vancouver to the Fraser Valley.

S.W.A.T.T has spent the last couple of years riding, mapping and designing a comprehensive plan for this area. S.W.A.T.T. currently has approval to open up over 400 kms of old road beds and has applications for additional trails to link the various valleys together. These trails will have kiosks installed at each trail head, complete with maps. All of the developed trails will have new signage installed, providing trail rating and GPS locations, among other things.

The short term vision is to provide these new trails with rest areas, shelters, cellular service locations and out houses.

The long term plan is to have these trails constructed to the North end of Harrison Lake and then connect/develop the trails along the East side of Harrison Lake.
